Litigation Legal AssistantWe are looking for a skilled Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal to take on an immediate temporary assignment supporting a busy law firm in Portland through an upcoming trial. This position demands extensive trial preparation experience, along with a solid background in appellate law and civil litigation. DOEDURATION: Temporary, 1-2 months (through trial), potential for direct-hire.SCHEDULE: Full-time, 37.5 hour work week M-F; OT may be required during trials.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Offer direct trial and appellate support within a civil litigation framework.E-file documents with the Oregon District Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.Oversee docketing, calendaring, and deadline management in compliance with ORCP.Assist in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, pleadings, and coordinating daily logistics.Facilitate communication between attorneys, courts, clients, and external parties.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Extensive trial preparation experience in civil litigation, including organizing exhibits, pleadings, and daily logistics for trial.Proficiency with e-filing in both Oregon District Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.Strong docketing experience and a thorough understanding of the Oregon Rules of Civil Procedure (ORCP).Civil litigation trial support experience, with a focus on providing comprehensive assistance throughout trial prep and the trial process.Availability to work on-site in Portland immediately through the trial, with the ability to work in-office full time Monday-Friday; Some shift flexibility, OT may be required during trials.Ability to stay calm under pressure, demonstrating exceptional organization and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSOffice Mobility & Physical Tasks: Ability to move within the office to access equipment and supplies; occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds of legal materials; minimal local travel may be required for court appearances or meetings.Computer & Equipment Use: Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer; frequent use of hands for typing, filing, and operating standard office equipment such as phones, scanners, and copiers.Sensory & Communication Abilities: Sufficient visual and auditory capacity to read detailed legal documents and effectively communicate in person, by phone, and via virtual platforms with attorneys, courts, and clients.DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION STATEMENT We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that welcomes diverse candidates.
