English Content Writer, Rosetta Stone (Freelance)

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an English Content Writer to join our Rosetta Stone curriculum development team, focusing on our English for Specific Purposes learning content. The Rosetta Stone immersive language learning platform is trusted by individuals, schools, and global enterprises alike.As part of a curriculum development team, you will collaborate with curriculum designers to write creative online course content designed for intermediate and advanced adult English learners. You will be writing engaging and informative dialogues, usage explanations, vocabulary entries, and practice activities for new courses focused on specific industries (e.g., Hospitality, First Responders, Information Technology).This is a remote, 1099 consulting role for six months with possible extension. What You’ll Be DoingInvestigate topics that demonstrate language used in industry-specific scenariosWrite engaging demonstration dialogues and passages to meet specific educational objectives, based on the lesson structure and sample activities provided by Rosetta Stone’s curriculum design team Craft questions, answers, and explanations that adhere to Rosetta Stone curriculum and style guidelinesCollaborate with curriculum designers, writers, and editors to meet project objectives and deadlinesWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related fieldTwo years experience in instructional design and curriculum development for adult second language acquisitionExceptional writing skills, including a finely tuned sense of English grammar and usageExperience in the Hospitality or First Responders fieldsAbility to adjust to in-house style and pedagogical guidelines, including the Chicago Manual of Style and the CEFR proficiency scaleStrong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills Can-do attitude with openness to others’ ideasAbility to be efficient and organized while working in multiple documentsWhat To Include In Your ApplicationYour resumeA cover letter under 600 words that addresses the following questions: What are some challenges in designing and developing self-study online English language learning content for adults?
