REVOLT is looking for a freelancer holiday/weekend copy editor for our news sites www.revolt.tv and www.rap-up.com who can work Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. ET – 5 p.m. ET, as well as holidays, which are generally half days. The pay is $30 per hour and the role is remote. The ideal candidate: 5 years experience as a copy editor at a major news outlet Must be an AP Style expert (AP Nerds Only!) while able to learn REVOLT’s in-house style Must feel nauseous when seeing a typo or punctuation error Must be an EXCELLENT fact-checker who can spot and correct inaccuracies effectively and swiftly Must be able to edit short news articles as well as long-form pieces such as listicles, exclusive celeb interviews, op-eds, etc. like a pro Must work effectively in a fast-paced media environment Must be extremely detail-oriented Must be receptive to feedback (Stay out your feelings) Must have knowledge of CMS platforms while able to learn REVOLT’s Adobe CMS Knowledge of SEO is a HUGE plus MUST have knowledge of and love for hip hop, social justice, and Black culture overall
