Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.** Essential Functions and Objectives: Supports the increasing demand on the language services division of the Multicultural Outreach Office and also helps the District meet the requirements of the Modified Consent Decree (MCD). Additional linguists allow for greater MCD compliance with essential parent communication at the District and school level. – Supports the Supervisor with the office’s mission and goals. – Accurately translates technical and non-technical written materials using computer translation tools as well as traditional methods.- Manages and prepares translation projects using designated software.- Proofreads, edits, and performs other quality assurance checks on projects..Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications: – Four (4) or more years of experience performing translations with experience creating or using glossaries and style guides for translation.- Recent experience working as a full-time translator for an agency, a company, or as an independent contractor.- Experience translating websites and marketing material is a plus.- Knowledge with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs. Google Sheets, Google Slides.- Effective time management and organizational skills.- Effective communication skills.- Strong attention to detail.- Ability to manage several projects on tight deadlines with minimum supervision and respond to unexpected changes or requests.- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.- Works collaboratively with others on a team as well as independently.- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.- Excellent command of both the Spanish and English language with exceptional knowledge of Spanish grammar, style rules, and conventions and familiarity with other Spanish dialects for cultural adaptation.- Ability to work evenings and weekends if needed. Education Requirements: – High school diploma or equivalent required.- ATA certification preferred but not mandatory.
