1. Hybrid Rocket
Calculate the recession rate of the HTPB propellant with a=0.1 and n=0.5. Oxidizer mass flow
rate is 100 kg/s. Circular port radius is 10 cm. Compare propellant mass flow rate for port radii
10 cm and 15 cm. Port length is 1 m and density is 1000 kg/m3

Note: In the equation for recession rate both a and n are dimensional and numbers are based on
experiment. Using oxidizer mass flow rate and radius in units provided will give proper unit for
the recession rate.

2. Hall thruster
Estimate thrust of the Hall thruster having mass flow rate of 5 mg/s and voltage applied of 300
V. Assume that 75% of applied voltage is used for ion acceleration. Propellant is Xenon
