SHARING TIME WITH OUR WONDERFUL DOGS

“I am looking to have 10 short stories rewritten that are originally aimed at children, but updated to be more suitable for a young adult audience aged 15-18. The stories are all based around sharing quality time with beloved pet dogs and teach lessons about friendship, loyalty and compassion.

The updated stories should retain the overall wholesome themes and heartwarming messages, but add more sophisticated language, nuanced characters and complex themes appropriate for older readers. Descriptions should be more vivid and events more intricate to engage the intellectual maturity of teenagers. Dialogue needs smoothing to sound natural while advancing each tale.

All stories currently average 500 words and should be expanded to 700-1000 words each in the rewrite. References to popular YA literature, music or films could help contextualize the setting. While humour can lighten moments, interactions should avoid slapstick and lean more towards wit, banter or situational irony.

Flow and cohesion and critical to holding reader interest throughout each longer narrative. Feedback from beta teen readers will aid evaluation alongside grammatical precision, creative liberty and faithful preservation of the core lessons.

With deft styling and the writer’s unique vision, these aged-up accounts of kids and canines can impart valuable life lessons to a new generation in a memorable, engaging format.”
