Translator – Spanish

Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The Safety Translator Technician (Translator) is responsible for assisting the Site Safety Manager with translating English to Spanish and Spanish to English to provide safety instructions, take statements, and generally provide communications from English-speaking safety personnel to non-English speaking employees. The translator will also convert English written documents to Spanish including site-specific safety meetings and other site-specific documents provided by our clients. The translator will work cooperatively with the general contractor and/or customer in providing translation of their orientation and instructions in their site-specific orientation, weekly safety meetings, and when impromptu meetings are required.Responsibilities: Responsible for translating for the site safety team doing orientations and other safety training at time of hire. Respond with the safety team to the location of incidents in the workplace to be able to translate statements from non-English speaking employees and/or translate statements written in Spanish to English. Provide translation for Conti employees requiring medical care to the jobsite EMTs or first aid responders. Provide translation for claims of harassment and discrimination and other human resource matters. Maintain confidentiality for all safety and human resource statements and matters discussed in interviews and investigations. Provide translation during Conti and client safety meetings using PA or other sound systems to large groups of employees. Report only to the Conti safety department and avoid discussing any safety matters with the Conti production team except where permitted by the safety manager on site. Physical Requirements: Ability to walk over rough and uneven surfaces Ability to lift to 10 pounds. Prolonged standing and walking Ability to properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including the required use of hard hats, work boots, eye protection, and hearing protection Ability to work 40 hours per week, overtime and night shifts as required. This position requires the following:Ohio residency verified by state issued drivers license or ID, A 12-month lease within the state of Ohio, A valid voter’s registration card, or a utility bill in their name for a residence in Ohio. An OSHA Construction 10-hour certification within 4 years. Pass a 10-panle drug test at time of hire. Safety-toe work boots. If they wear prescription glasses, they will have to wear over the glass glasses.
