We are currently looking for PhD linguists for a Language Owner (Reviewer) position requested by Google Wand project.
General information:
• Source Language: English
• Target Language: Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese (Native)
• Production Start Date: est. 4~5 weeks from now to begin the process.
• Compensation: paid by hour
Specific requirements:
• Work Status: Full Time (8 hour/day retainer)
• Time Zone Worked: Need to be able to work in US time zone with minimum 5 hour overlap in PST accessible for meetings and communication
• Contract Terms: Indefinite placement, Long Term
• Education Requirement: PhD in linguistics or closely similar field
• Fluency Level: Native level in target language, has a strong/deep understanding of the local in-country language nuances and can consult on word choices and review language content based on language knowledge to give recommendation/ correction
• Knowledge, Experience and Skills in: Technical writing knowledge, if not, knowledge in coding in Python
• Brief Role Description: This role will act similar to a language manager that would consult with Director and work group level Google employees to give consultative and guiding advising based on their language education and experience in reviewing work. Could also include the reviewing language guidelines and provide guidance and recommendation based on understanding of language. The role would require someone to be interested in/comfortable with Google and Welocalize to help influence the building of a quality framework around reviewing work for the Wand Program.
