I will be sending you a 52-k-word manuscript—twelve core chapters plus preface, dedication, foreword, acknowledgements and an “about the author” section—roughly 120 typed pages. Twelve hours after you receive the file, I need two fully-finished versions delivered back to me, hitting a strict 24-hour turnaround:
• a print-ready Word document laid out with professional margins and page numbers
• a PDF edition optimised for comfortable on-screen reading
To be honest I do not know what formats I will need to send to the printer or upload to Kdp so please send in all available formats.
The layout requirements are straightforward but must be followed precisely. Each chapter opens with a supplied “scales of justice” graphic, and selected lines throughout the text have to appear as bold, italicised pull-quotes tucked into the outside sidebar margin—clean, readable and visually balanced on every page.
I will supply:
– the final edited manuscript in Word
– the high-resolution scales-of-justice image
– a list of the exact sentences to use as pull-outs (indexed by page)
You will:
– format the body text, headings, front and back matter
– insert the pull-quotes in the margin, styling them bold-italic
– place the graphic at each chapter start with consistent sizing
– build a clickable table of contents for the PDF and a standard one for print
– return both files error-free, press-ready and on time
Fluent use of Microsoft Word and Acrobat (or an equivalent PDF generator) is essential to meet the deadline. Please only accept if the 24-hour window is comfortable for you; late delivery is not an option.
