SandVox is looking for English to Japanese translators and proofreaders to work on a battle and strategy mobile game featuring robots in the following languages pairs.
Work is on an on-going basis and start date is as soon as possible.
Your role will consist in translating the text for in-app strings and gaming content, in some cases from scratch, in other cases performing a machine translation post-editing, ensuring that the text is perfectly localized in the target language, consistent in tone and terminology, and fully correct from a grammatical point of view and text formatting.
Scope, on average, is around 5K words per month; each task may vary from 10 to 700 words.
Turnaround times for proofreading are usually between 24 to 48 hours, although there are cases in which there is a longer notice too.
You will work on the Client’s web-based TMS through an account that we will provide you with, as well as you will have access to the game. We will provide you with guides and training.
Mandatory requirements and bonus points:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Linguistics, Translation or equivalent
Minimum two years of proven professional experience as a proofreader in the gaming industry
Excellent command of both source and target language
Meticulous and detail-oriented
Reliable; we expect all tasks to be completed by the due date without delays or issues of any kind
Tech-savvy
Independent, proactive and communicative team player
Being passionate about battle and strategy games, and/or about robots cartoons from the 80’s is a big plus
Being a mobile gamer is a plus – you also will need to play the game on your iOS or Android device
Previous experience with TMS or CAT tools is a plus; you will work on the Client’s TMS and will use Translation Memory and Glossary too
The project requires signing an NDA for confidentiality, which is the reason why we cannot share the project’s name or the client’s name until then.
Working on this project also requires being active in our Slack channel.
