[ABOUT SAGA]
—————–
SAGA Translations is a premier Brooklyn-based translation studio specializing in English subtitles for international news and documentary series. Our work spans from high-stakes politics and emerging technology to on-the-ground conflict reporting. We are proud to partner with industry-leading media outlets such as The New York Times, the BBC, National Geographic, and PBS.

[PROJECT OVERVIEW & QUALIFICATIONS]
—————–

SAGA Translations is seeking experienced linguists to produce US English subtitles (.srt) for raw and archival footage for an upcoming documentary that will cover the recent history of Venezuela (2018–2026), including the fallout of “Operation Absolute Resolve”.

Subtitlers must have a strong command of Venezuelan Spanish, 2+ years of experience delivering time-synced .srts (English subtitles for Spanish), and a proactive approach to research when tackling translations for raw audio.

The time-synced English subtitles (.srt) created by the subtitlers will be essential for the producers and editors as they review, select, and structure the scenes for the final cut.

While the project includes straightforward interviews, successful candidates must be highly adept at extracting clear subtitles from complex, non-linear Spanish dialogue recorded in the field. This assignment will likely involve high-intensity scenes such as protests and spontaneous interviews where audio clarity is frequently compromised. We require specialists who can ensure every audible moment is captured with precision.

[TYPE OF FOOTAGE EXPECTED]

The material will include a mix of long-form interviews, short interviews with citizens and politicians, and extended vérité (unscripted, fly-on-the-wall) scenes.

[SCHEDULE]

We are expected to start translation work by Monday, January 19th. Work may continue through February.

Daily availability is not required; assignments will be distributed on a day-to-day basis according to your individual schedule to ensure comprehensive coverage.

[PAYMENT] Invoices will be paid Net 30 via bank transfer.

[HOW TO APPLY] If you are interested in collaborating on this project, please submit your information via the following Google Form: https://forms.gle/xKEEn3pyFX52PMVG9

Note: We are only hiring individual freelancers at this time. Agencies, please do not apply. Only applications submitted through the form provided will be reviewed.
