We are seeking a highly skilled Linguist to design and develop language proficiency tests that align with established frameworks and meet the needs of our business-oriented customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in linguistics, test creation, and proficiency evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Language Tests: Create language proficiency tests for multiple languages, either in English or German
Map Tests to Proficiency Levels: Align each test with CEFR framework levels:
Beginner: A1-A2 (merged)
Novice: B1-B2
Advanced: C1
Expert: C2
Tailor Content to Business Context: Ensure all test content reflects practical business scenarios relevant to professional settings.
Skill Assessment: Create items that evaluate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, emphasizing specific skill areas per proficiency level:
Beginner (A1-A2): Everyday vocabulary, sentence structure, basic conversation.
Intermediate (B1-B2): Functional grammar, practical scenarios, longer texts.
Advanced (C1-C2): Complex syntax, abstract topics, nuanced comprehension.
Requirements
Question Design: Develop concise, engaging test items (10–15 per test) to fit a 10-minute completion timeframe. Use a variety of question formats: Multiple-choice, Ordered answer, Rating scale ,Sentence completion ,Audio-based questions
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with internal teams to ensure tests meet client expectations and product goals.
Quality Assurance: Review and refine test content to maintain high standards of accuracy and relevance.
Qualifications
Degree in Linguistics, Language Education, or a related field.
Experience in language proficiency test development and CEFR framework application.
Expertise in one or more target languages; multilingual candidates preferred.
Strong understanding of language assessment methodologies and business communication contexts.
Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
