Literary translation; self-publishing author; Christian non-fiction

Dear German Literary Translators:

I am an American Benedictine monk and am writing a Christian non-fiction series entitled “A Hero Is Chosen” with the tagline “Hero Stories of the Saints.” Book One is already translated into German and I am looking for a native German speaker with excellent English skills who can translate my second book.

Book Two is a hero-story of Joan of Arc in her historical context, so if you enjoy history, biography, and Christian literature, this project might interest you. I do not plan to publish this book until July 2025, so I can be very flexible with the timing / scheduling of the project. My priorities are: (1) a good translation, and (2) an affordable price, as I have very limited resources. In return for these considerations, however, I can be VERY flexible with regard to scheduling.

If you are interested, I could send you a sample of this manuscript that includes a list of the seven books in this series. I will be translating the whole series into German, so it would be ideal to find someone who is at least open to the possibility of continuing on after Book Two is translated. I cannot pay a lot of money, but I can offer six translation jobs that will extend over the next three years.

Please know that the themes of this series fit very well with the Jubilee Year 2025 that is about to begin on December 24. This might add further interest if you are a Christian and have an interest in cultivating your spiritual life and your personal relationship with God.

I will also need the metadata / promotional materials translated. Some of it is already translated by the translator of the first book, but some of it is unique to this book (e.g., cover and book description). It is included in the word count. Total word count = 36,162.

*** PLEASE KNOW THAT I DO NOT WANT AN AI / MACHINE TRANSLATION! I tell this to all of the translators with whom I work. I want a HUMAN translation from someone with a literary translation background, or at least some literary ability and an interest in history and biography. Tolino Media requires a notice on the Impressum page for any content that is AI-generated. I want to avoid this at all costs! It is okay to use translating software / tools, but I am looking for a WRITER who has solid literary writing skills who can provide a 100% human translation. (The copyright will have to stay with me because I am a member of a religious order and all that I have belongs to them.)

I look forward to your response.

Brother Emmanuel, O.S.B.
