Freelance Associate Editor

Digg is seeking a Freelance Associate Editor on a contract basis to support Digg’s day-to-day publishing operations.Role Overview: This project-based role involves pitching story aggregation, videos, and original stories based on what is trending online. Coverage areas will include newsletter production and assisting with web content. Candidate must have a strong sense of how to use publishing platforms for email and the web. Responsibilities:Produce Digg’s daily newsletter every morning to be sent at 9.30 AM ETWrite and pitch stories that the Digg audience will respond to in both the newsletter and on the webAssist in video curation and publishing on DiggKey Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field.A minimum of 2 years of experience in journalism/editing.Strong knowledge of online trends and how they surface.Strong knowledge of different platforms where trends emerge.Feel free to include:Sample clipsCompensation:This role is structured as a 1099 Contract Position, with compensation based on active hours worked. The role is not guaranteed 40 hours per week and is at the discretion of the managing editor. Compensation: $25 per hour | Three-Month Contract
