JOB DESCRIPTION
Grey Eagle Publications is seeking a contract editor (m/f/d) for projects as needed with short turnaround times (one month from receipt). Projects will consist of editing manuscripts translated from English into German and communicating with translators to improve the translation. Start times vary, and new projects will be made available to the editor as manuscripts are translated. Please note that these books are Dark Romance, with all that entails (Fifty Shades of Grey+ style).
TASKS
Edit manuscripts translated from English into German (grammar, spelling, style and congruence)
Accept/give feedback and collaborate with translators
Communicate fluently with translators and deliver on time
Constant and reliable availability
SKILLS
Professional experience in writing texts with short turnaround times
Proficiency with MAC or PC and Microsoft applications
REQUIREMENTS
German native speaker with excellent knowledge of grammar/editing and punctuation
Sound knowledge of and strict adherence to the Duden
Near-native fluency in English with good knowledge of grammar/orthography and punctuation
Availability as soon as possible and efficient training
Short response times to emails
At least one year of professional experience as a proofreader, ideally also in the areas of editing and/or translation
Ability to provide links to previously published work
No reservations about dark romance (e.g. Fifty Shades of Grey+)
