To serve our students, the district employs approximately 4,000 employees including more than 1,800 teachers.Job GoalTo provide interpreting and translating services to Spanish – speaking families utilizes the highest standards of medical interpreting and translation to Spanish-speaking families to ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate services.Essential FunctionsFacilitates service provision for Wyandotte County to eligible infants and toddlers and their families in home and community-based settings. Work as a transdisciplinary team member to collaboratively serve eligible infants and toddlersWork together with families and other team members to develop appropriate Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) based upon family-identified prioritiesComplete appropriate documentation for accountability, billing, and communication with other providers, including written translation of documentation from other service providers into Spanish, where appropriate.Provide Family Service Coordination including management of the intervention process as well as referral to and collaboration with other community resources for assigned familiesProvide leadership to ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate servicesAbility to communicate clearly and effectively through written and spoken language in English and SpanishAbility to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines (e.g. SLP, OT, ECSE, SW, PT, Nurse)Ability to work in partnership with parents/family membersAbility to apply new skills/information to existing practicesAbility to manage time efficiently to encompass activities in and out of the officeAbility to prioritize to meet deadlinesAbility to work in a variety of home and community settings including the ability to ascend/descend stairsAbility to work comfortably in a variety of positions including seated on the floorAbility to carry or pull materials/equipment up to 20 lbs. a distance of up to 100 yds.Travel in personal vehicle to different locations with mileage reimbursement providedQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED considered with evidence of excellent language skillsDemonstrated proficiency in written and spoken EnglishDemonstrated proficiency in written and spoken SpanishKnowledge of Medical Interpreting, preferred RequirementMust have a valid driver’s license insurance coverage on vehicleCOMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION: Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students.Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.Performs other related duties as assigned.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public. Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English.
