Localization Content Editor, Canada (Freelance)

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Localization Editor with demonstrated expertise in Canadian English language conventions and culture. In this role, you will work closely with curriculum designers and content writers to ensure our language arts, math, and science items are linguistically correct, grade appropriate, and culturally suitable for the Canadian edition of our product.This is a remote 1099 consulting role for 6 months with possible extension. It is open to candidates in the US, UK, or Canada. What You’ll Be Doing Review IXL content and suggest necessary adaptations for our Canadian edition. Considerations will include:Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and terminology conventions of Canadian EnglishCultural relevance for Canadian students (i.e., avoiding US-centrism)Adherence to IXL style guide specificationsGrade-level appropriatenessEnsure overall quality and consistency of language arts, math, and science content for CanadaAnswer IXL queries pertaining to Canadian English language and cultural customsWhat We’re Looking ForBA/BS degree in a relevant field and prior experience in an editing roleImpeccable knowledge of Canadian English linguistic conventionsSuperior writing and editing skills, with exceptional attention to detailFamiliarity working with style manuals and guides (e.g., The Chicago Manual of Style)Strong understanding of Canadian culture and customsUnderstanding of K–12 students’ reading and knowledge levelsStrong communication skillsAbility to meet deadlines and be efficient and organized while managing a queue of assignmentsProficiency in Google Docs and Google SheetsExperience or interest in the Canadian education system is a plusAbout IXL LearningIXL Learning is the country’s largest EdTech company.
